SOLID AS ... WOOD?

5 years ago today Mr. Keith Farren Mosley Jr. and (and svelte hahaha) Ms. Kahlillah Aisha Dotson joined together in matrimony. That's right! Today is our 5 year anniversary!

The Mosleys August 2006

Traditionally, the gift for the 5th anniversary is wood. Not too exciting. But after thinking about it for awhile, I think I kinda like wood. It gets better with age. Just look at gorgeous antique pieces of furniture. Even with their nicks and blemishes they still radiate beauty. That's marriage. You have ups and downs - but with communication and  love you always come back around to the beauty of your union. The reasons that you chose your spouse. The laughter, the friendship, the chemistry, the possibility for greatness!

5 short years. Boy have we changed. When Keith and I met he had a mouth full of braces and looked 16. Today - no braces and now he looks 19. hahahahah. We were both starting out in our careers. We were trying to figure out what we wanted to do and where we wanted to go.

Over the 5 years we sure have been some places! Toronto, Singapore, Indonesia, and Jamaica to name a few. But there is no place like home - seriously. We have grown to love Smyrna and really enjoy raising our family here.

This journey called marriage has been challenging and rewarding. As with anything, time changes some things. The key is to grow together and respect each other as each person matures and grows. Our journey has taught us some good lessons. One though we believe is most important - to be around like minded people. Not necessarily married folks, but like minded folks. People that understand that we need to balance our family and our social lives. People that understand and remind us that even when we get on each others nerves, we love each other and are meant to be together. Some weeding still needs to happen LOL, but we are pushing to surround ourselves with friends that have BOTH of our interests at heart. They want us to succeed as a unit.

Standing in Lafayette Square in front of our friends and family, Keith and I vowed to love - and we're still at it. I have grown closer to my friend and we're growing in life and love together. The ride is unscripted and ever-changing. I can't predict what's going to happen next - and I don't want to.

From $6 to IRAs, from Savannah to Smyrna, from 2 to 4! Phew a lot has gone on.
